Description The article overviews the epistemological and theoretical challenges and risks of a social research focused on study of novelties brought by so called new media. The main aim of the article is, in this regard, to complicate and reject the very common use of of symbolic dichotomies "online/offline" and "old/new" and to offer more realistic and context-based approach to the innovations coming with new communication technologies. The article is conceived as an answer to older paper published by Michal Šimůnek.
