| Description | This paper deals with the early medieval representations of angelic beings. Figures of angels, depicted very often, could appear banal. However, their role as mediators between humankind and God, especially during the liturgical performances, is crucial: images and rituals become a “real presence”, activated through the minds of the beholders. |
