Description | During the Enlightenment era in Greece, in the sphere of language, there were first efforts to create a comprehensive Greek dictionary. The paper deals with Adamantios Korais, one of the most significant Greek scholars of that time, and his endeavors and ideas on the renewed lexicon, whereas a different way of working on the Greek vocabulary in the heyday of national revival, represented by the other then eminent intellectual, Anthimos Gazis, is described and compared too. |
