Description The text of this book is framed by several major phenomena and economic processes. The main framework is represented by the nonprofit organizations economy. This field has been narrowed down to the nonprofit revenues, and to the ways these revenues are obtained. Moreover, we focused on the question how the Czech nonprofit organizations respond to the real or potential failure of particular resource stream. Our investigation covers the turbulent times of financial and economic crisis (2008-2013), as we searched for deeper understanding of the ways nonprofit organizations cope with the loss of income and change their structure when such loss occurred. Briefly, our goal was to bring new information about how the Czech nonprofit institutions respond to the economic crisis, whether they have some sustainability or survival strategies, and above all, whether/how the public finance affect nonprofit organizations´ behavior. For our research, we chose a structure allowing us to answer these questions, or at least outline the path to them. Throughout the book, we rely on the traditional structural-operational definition of non-profit organizations, that is, private self-governing voluntary organizations existing out of state and market structures, and not focused on the profit making. Sector defined in such way is a really diverse. Organizations differ not only by their size, history and mission. An important factor influencing the organizational behavior is represented by the organization's revenue structure, the industry in which the organization operates, and the dominant target group. According to our research design, we rely on the results of an extensive and largely unique survey among 650 Czech nonprofit organizations. Our results are further supplemented by a more detailed analysis of selected issues arising from the quantitative analysis. Subsequently, we conducted three focus groups, which allowed us to broaden our interpretations from the perspective of the organizations. In particular, we had the opportunity to learn more about indirect sources of NPO cooperation with public administration and dependence on subsidies.
