Description The cohesion policy of the European Union can be considered as one of the most important policies of the European Union. Its traditional tools are structural funds and financial interventions. The cohesion policy costs currently add up to approximately one third of the budget of the European Union. The question is what results the cohesion policy using these tools reach (i.e. how effective the policy is) and if the results can be considered economically rational (efficient) by comparison with the respective costs. Regarding the vast complexity of the cohesion policy, the answer is found with difficulty, as shown in existing literature. This publication deals with the problem of efficiency of the cohesion policy only from the perspective of law. It tries to delineate the extent to which the legal framework of the cohesion policy (i.e. the European Union and then the Czech legislation concerned with the cohesion policy) participates in efficiency of utilization of structural funds on the level of individual interventions (projects supported form structural funds). The publication is divided into five parts where various aspects are adressed.
