Description Aim: To evaluate the increase in the future liver remnant (FLR) in patients prior to liver resection who underwent portal vein embolization, regarding applied embolization material. Another aim is to evaluate the interobserver variability of volumetric analysis for the measurement of volumes. Methods: The total of 36 patients prior planned liver resection who underwent portal vein embolization in the University Hospital Brno were included in this retrospective study. Volumetric analysis was performed on CT/MRI before and after the procedure by two independent radiologists. The interobserver variability was determined by using Pearson and Wilcoxon correlation coefficient. The correlation between the increase in FLR and applied embolization material was determined by using pair t-test, as well as for the determination of correlation between the increase in FLR and recanalization of v. portae.
