Description Sport performances have high demands on athletes’ energy intake. This dietary income is very difficult to fill in terms of the amount of classic food and that is the real goal for dietary supplements. The aim of this study is to find out the use and overuse of dietary supplements by athletes. Next how the European Union and Czech Republic legislative defines food supplements and ensures compliance with declared health claims and how to control dietary supplements on the content of prohibited doping substances. Whether in what form and how successfully the World Anti-Doping Organization with the Czech Anti-Doping Committee aims to prevent doping in the world and in the Czech Republic. Several doping solutions are proposed at the end of the study. The main purpose of preventing contamination of dietary supplements should be to propose a comprehensive check of dietary supplements with a quality certificate directly from WADA. It is inappropriate to leave all responsibility to athletes. Relinquishing responsibility and claiming that athletes do not need dietary supplements is misleading. The purpose of the Anti-Doping Code is to protect the pure sport, to help and advise athletes on this issue.
