| Description | Various aspects of gender relations and power(lessness) of men and masculitities was addressed. Senior consultants among physicians at maternity wards were taken as the core analytical focus presneting hegemonic masculinity contrasted to their individial perceptions of powerlessness (Connell and Messerschmidt 2005). The goal of the presentation was to offer analytical insights for our understaning of the paradox of experiencing positions of power as individually disempowering. Thus brigning us to reflection of more potentials for general changes in the gender order, reproduction of the status quo, division of labour or the symbolic universe (Harding 1987). |
