| Description | The present invention provides a new economical and environmentally friendly process for the preparation of graphenoids comprising the step of exfoliating and oxidizing a suspension of expandable graphite in an ultrasonic exfoliation and oxidation solution containing acetic acid, sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide as the source oxidant at a temperature in the range of 50 to 70 ° C. The method provides new functional group graphenoids allowing for a broadening of the spectrum of modifications. The method further enables easy recycling and reuse of the exfoliating and oxidation solution and reduces the amount and hazards of the waste from production. |
