Description This paper focuses on a possible tension between victimological and criminalist (crime investigative) approach towards questioning of a particularly vulnerable victims in specific cases, especially regarding investigation of sexual violence in the "word against word" scenarios. While victimology requires the highest possible protection against secondary victimisation, which includes i. a. the prohibition of repeated questioning, questions aiming at the private sphere of the victim etc., this prohibition, on the other hand, makes it very difficult for the investigators to assess the credibility of the victim and reliably secure the establishment of the facts of the case. The paper analyses this conflict, its origins and consequences and its possible solutions.
