| Description | Presented paper explains the term "gender gap" and its effect on academia in different scientific fields. The possible reasons for "gender gap" abroad and in local context will be discussed. Empirical studies presenting results showing discrimination of women in job interviews for academic and research positions will be presented together with studies on stereotypes about women's competencies and quality of their publications. Also an alternative notion of non-existence of discrimination of women will be introduced and various alternative explanations of "gender gap" in science and academia will be discussed. |
