Description The study is focused on the first individual exhibition of Prague painter and graphic artist Emil Orlik (1870-1932) in the Moravian Industrial Museum in Brno (Arts and Crafts museum, since 1961 a part of Moravian Gallery in Brno) in the year 1900. Based on archive documents and period press articles, his cooperation with the director of the museum Julius Leisching (1865-1933) has been analyzed, as well as establishing contacts with the collectors and supporters Johann II. von Liechtenstein, members of the influential Gomperz dynasty and others. At that time, Orlik gained an international reputation and his successful period was completed in 1904 when he was nominated a Professor of Educational Institution of the Royal Museum of Applied Arts in Berlin.
