| Description | Wrist-guard users of the Late Eneolithic and Early Bronze Age frequently are presented as members of masculine warrior elite. The function and operation mode of the so-called wrist-guard stay to be unclear, oscillating between practical archery use and narrative body decoration. Differences of wrist-guard shape would be seen as reflection of the change in function, although comparative analytical data are missing. A total of 35 wrist-guards of Bell Beaker and Nitra culture from eastern part of the central Europe were analysed by high power use-wear analysis, p-XRF and SEM measurements of metal chemicals and by 3D analysis (RTI). Our results allow to clarify the wearing position and the origin of metal streaks, and reveal trend of gradual chronological change on the turn of Late Eneolithic and Early Bronze Age in studied territory. |
