Description Student Milotová and her SOČ work: the tick season peaks in the period from May to June. "I measured the air temperature and humidity to find out whether temperature and humidity depend on the number of ticks in the individual seasons of the year and their positivity. The optimal conditions for ticks are a temperature of around seventeen to eighteen degrees and a humidity between sixty and seventy percent," says the student. In the monitored sample, she detected the most infected ticks in May. "In almost six percent, the presence of bacteria causing Lyme disease and in four and a half percent, the presence of anaplasma was proven. Overall, however, the number of infectious ticks has slightly decreased compared to last year."
