Description The Tibet Museum in Dharamsala, India, is the only museum in the world that falls under the direct supervision of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). In the twenty years of its existence, the institution has undergone various changes - the most significant being the relocation of the museum from the Tsuglakhang temple complex to the CTA premises in Dharamsala and the creation of a brand new permanent exhibition. From the original 'Long Look Homeward' exhibition, which aimed to reflect on Tibetans' memories of the horrors of the Chinese occupation through the rhetoric of 'catastrophic witnessing' (Keränen et al., 2015), was born an entirely new exhibition entitled 'I am Tibetan, this is my story', which focuses its narrative on Tibetan culture, history and experiences in exile in order to counter official Chinese propaganda with its narratives. Based on analyzed data from two field researches (2019, 2022), in this paper, I try to show how self-presentation and propaganda strategies have changed in the institution of the Tibet Museum, what role the theme of Tibetan Buddhism plays in these narratives, and what technologies the museum uses in an attempt to influence the views of its visitors.
