Description One of Jan Santini Aichl's early architectural works was the reconstruction of the "fathers' choir" in the Cistercian monastery church in Žďár. However, Gothic adaptation of the choir has so far been relatively little analyzed from the point of view of two seemingly contradictory components of the project. The first is the tradition of stonemasonry stereotomy, which Santini could recognize in the stonemasonry of his father's workshop, as well as in the mathematics and geometry studies in the Theatine schools. The second was the treatment of light, not from the point of view of its illumination on material things, but from the point of view of its opposite role as a "material substance" that participates in the definition of architectural space. In the paper, the various forms of stereotomy are mentioned in the Moravian environment before 1750´as a historical and theoretical problem, and at the same time we will note the significantly different positions of "light matter" in the interiors of Žďár, Rajhrad and Křtiny.
