Description More than thirty years ago, the countries of the Eastern bloc experienced a significant rebirth of society, associated with the rejection of totalitarianism, which was unparalleled at the time. Over the years, we have taken steps that have led us to the current state of legal democracy and late capitalism. But every system we know has its perversions and inevitably leads to a social crisis. In his “state-destroying” work The Power of the Powerless, V. Havel presents several concepts that helped him describe the totalitarianism that the countries of the Eastern bloc experienced: post- totalitarian system, social auto-totality, post-democracy and dissent. The author is convinced that these very concepts are still relevant and applicable to the contemporary world, although its cruelty and inhumanity is much more subtle than in the regimes we have known so far. The author will also use work of philosophers like A. Gramsci, F. Fukuyama, J. Derrida or S. Žižek. The aim of this work is not only to examine parallel lines between protest slogans in communist totality and postmodern Europe, but find what to expect at the end of this crisis of humanity.
