| Description | Abbeys and monasteries have long been important centres of culture, education and the exchange of information. The collections of Central European monasteries represent very interesting sources that have so far only been partially accessible. The transfer of materials relating to musical or music-dramatic works (musical sources, but also libretti) took place through friendly relations between the communities of a certain order or between the various religious orders, but also between the religious milieu and friendly noblemen, or between artists. These theses were substantiated with numerous examples (including musical ones). |
