| Description | A key area for information processing, access and retrieval is knowledge organisation. The training will focus on the basic principles and methods related to effective knowledge organisation and management. Basic tools such as controlled vocabularies, classifications, thesauri, ontologies and knowledge graphs will be introduced with respect to their formal and substantive structure, functions and use. The different types of these semantic tools will also be presented using concrete examples of existing systems. The trainees should be able to get an overall picture of the subject matter, be able to distinguish and describe the basic principles of knowledge organization, and orient themselves in the basic types of semantic tools. |
