Description The conference paper is based on one of the outputs of a larger applied research project entitled Identification and Application of Strategic Communication Tools in the Implementation of the Czech Foreign Policy Concept, which Masaryk University is implementing in 2022-2024 on the basis of a grant from the Czech Technology Agency and for the needs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. One of the outputs of this project was a policy analysis entitled "The war in Ukraine, its reflection in Czech public opinion and the possibilities for communication strategy". Some of the findings of this policy analysis are presented in this conference paper. The analysis worked with 3 types of data. These were: (1) Data available on the basis of relevant public opinion polls that were conducted after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in the Czech Republic and focused to the conflict in Ukraine and related topics; (2) qualitative data obtained on the basis of 3 focus groups conducted in autumn 2022; (3) data obtained on the basis of a questionnaire survey conducted on a representative sample of the population of the Czech Republic (citizens of the Czech Republic over 18 years of age) in the period January 2023-February 2023. The conference paper draft will first place the research in the context of the events of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with regard to the period December 2022 - January 2023, which immediately preceded or coincided with the course of the questionnaire survey. The domestic political context in the Czech Republic in the relevant period will also be taken into account (the period immediately preceding the presidential elections in the Czech Republic and the ongoing 2-round presidential election in January 2023, accompanied by the relevant campaign). Furthermore, the methodology of data collection is described: qualitative research through focus groups mapping the narratives existing in the Czech public in relation to the conflict in Ukraine; on the basis of this mapping of existing narratives, relevant questions for the questionnaire survey were subsequently formulated. Subsequently, the conference paper draft will present the results of the quantitative and qualitative research (with regard to the formulated research questions).
