Description Every year, the issue of a child's entry into primary school is resolved. According to the child's development, most are mature and ready to enter elementary school by the time they reach the sixth year of life. Unfortunately, more and more with some children we have to be very careful and carefully consider whether they can successfully cope with the demands of school. Nowadays, however, the prevailing trend is to give children a postponement of school attendance for reasons that are not entirely relevant, and parents actually just decide to "extend childhood" for their child or just want to wait until they are older and therefore more able to handle the requirements for entering the first classes. A child's immaturity may be impaired in one or more areas related to sub-aspects of school readiness. Among the main reasons for delaying school attendance are logopedic defects, weakened graphomotor area and general lack of independence. In my work, I focus on the speech therapy area, which is the most common reason for deferment of school attendance. I am currently dealing with the frequency of deferrals in the Ústí Region, when the Ústí Region is among the fifth most risky region in granting deferrals of school attendance.
