| Description | The occurrence of cardiovascular diseases is associated with the aging of the organism and the undesirable effects of risk factors. The high prevalence of diseases of the cardiovascular system mainly affects the elderly patient population. The management of pharmacotherapy in the elderly is quite challenging due to polymorbidity and polypharmacy. The simultaneous use of several medicines can lead to a greater risk of side effects and deterioration of the patient's overall health. The increasing consumption of medicines also contributes to the need to rationalize the prescription of medicines, especially for geriatric patients. The aim of the study was to determine the consumption of the most frequently prescribed medicinal products in the elderly. |
