Description The video game Dante's Inferno (2010) represents an interesting and bold rereading of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, transforming the epic poem into an interactive and visually spectacular adventure. This talk will explore how the game, developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts, reinterprets Dante's Inferno, offering a new perspective on the classic work through the video game medium. Dante's Inferno is freely inspired by the structure and themes of the Divine Comedy, presenting a journey through the nine circles of Hell in a darker and more violent version than the original text. We will analyze how the game adapts Dante's narrative and characters into an action-adventure context, while maintaining some of the key elements of Dante's structure. This talk will offer a critical and in-depth overview of how Dante's Inferno reinterprets and reimagines Dante's Inferno, making it accessible to a modern audience through the dynamic and interactive world of video games.
