| Description | This book is a complementary source of information to the lectures of the course "CORE003 Sustainable Development: the Biggest Challenge Today?" taught at the Faculty of Science, MU. The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issue of sustainable development. The text is recommended to be read sequentially from the beginning to the end – and it is logically organized as such: in Part I the current state of the world is presented ("where have we got to"), in Part II the roots of the environmental crisis ("why have we got to this point"), and in Part III possible solutions are presented according to critical areas ("what to do about it"). However, the text can also be read in random chapters (they are more or less self-contained) where, thanks to a number of references to other sections, the reader will still learn the relevant context. |
