Description The paper focuses on the role of the social pedagogue as a key actor in support structures at primary schools. It is based on the results of a doctoral research study examining the profession of social pedagogue and its application in the context of Czech primary education. The research analyses current psychosocial needs of schools, teachers’ perceptions of the social pedagogue, and the profession’s potential in the areas of conflict prevention, mediation, and the promotion of positive school climate. The paper discusses the role of the social pedagogue in applying mediation and facilitation approaches and reflects on the need for systemic anchoring of this profession.
