Description The article deals with a critical analysis of the binary model of assessing the credibility of statements in criminal proceedings, which is mainly based on the formal and content consistency of the statement and does not sufficiently reflect its psychological dimension. The author therefore proposes an alternative concept—a graded model of credibility assessment, which perceives testimony as a dynamic and multi-layered construct, understanding its credibility as a spectral quantity. An important element of the model is the possibility of segmented assessment of statements based on a five-level typology that takes into account linguistic, psychological, and evidentiary aspects. The graded model is designed as a practical tool for use in the decision-making activities of courts and other law enforcement agencies, while also allowing for its integration with the outputs of forensic psychological expertise or supporting analytical outputs from artificial intelligence (AI). The model respects the principle of free evaluation of evidence and at the same time creates a framework for more transparent, reviewable, and methodologically grounded justification of law enforcement decisions. The author also points to the need for further verification of the proposed model in practical application and emphasizes the importance of systematic cooperation between departments.
