| Description | The traditional foundations of criminal liability are based primarily on individual responsibility for fault. The basis of fault is a person's expression of will in the external world, conditioned by knowledge. Artificial intelligence is based on machine data processing and is not equipped with the elements on which human intelligence is based. It is not capable of self-awareness, even though it can successfully mimic many features associated with human consciousness. Responsibility for crimes committed by autonomous systems still lies with the creator, provider, and user of AI tools. |
