Description Licks for veterinary use medications in a solid dosage form are primarily intended for domestic and wild ruminants. Licks containing essential minerals, trace elements, vitamins, and potentially medicinal substances. They are classified as salt, mineral, and ureo-molasses licks. Excipients such as fillers, binders, and coagulants are used for their formulation. Production methods include compressing (of dry or moistened mixtures) and casting into molds (cold or hot). Quality evaluation criteria include especially organoleptic properties, hardness, density, and resistance to water. They are available on the market in various geometric shapes, such as blocks, cylinders, or cones. They are distributed in a wide weight range, from single-digit to tens of kilograms. Currently, they represent an indispensable tool in veterinary medicine and offer significant potential for future innovations in the field of precision animal nutrition.
