Description This study is devoted to selected economic aspects of the life of Anabaptists in pre-White Mountain Moravia. The focus is primarily on presenting their economic activities and overall economic potential, on capturing the structure and functioning of the economic administration of Anabaptist settlements, and on their participation in various forms of property transactions. The paper presents economic leaders not only as organizers of craft and agricultural work within the community, and as representatives of the settlement in relation to the outside world, but also as frequent victims of various forms of violence from estate owners, feudal officials, and those who attacked and plundered Anabaptist farms. In the context examined, it also addresses the issue of Anabaptists’ relationship to private property and financial resources. The survey of property transactions by the Anabaptists indicates that communities usually possessed adequate financial means because they paid for most purchases of real estate and land in cash.
