| Description | The paper deals with the etymology and motivation behind selected lexemes denoting human emotions of anger, sadness, fear, and shame in Czech, Polish, Ukrainian, and Russian. The aim of the paper is to ascertain the motivation of the chosen lexemes in selected West and East Slavic languages through a retrospective etymological analysis, and to describe common and distinctive features in the verbalization of anger, sadness, fear, and shame in these languages. |
