| Description | This chapter summarizes the ideas concerning the Palaeozoic geodynamic evolution of the Brunovistulian Terrane. The review distinguishes: Allochthonous units (Western Group of Nappes) and (Par)autochthonous units and focuses on the following issues: (i) sediments of the rift basin; (ii) sediments of the foreland basin; (iii) Palaeozoic igneous activity; (iv) thermal overprint and burial history; (v) palaeobiogeography; (vi) tectonic structure. The geodynamic evolution of the Brunovistulian Terrane situated from the Cambrian near the SW edge of the East European Craton is discussed within the evolution of the Rheic Ocean at the Gondwana and Laurussia interface. |
