| Description | The island of Usedom is divided between Germany (about 4/5 of the area) and Poland. It is separated from the mainland by the Gulf of Stettin. The island has a surface that is significantly genetically influenced by the activity of the Pleistocene continental glacier and the activity of the sea in the Holocene. The differences are between the cliff character of the coast in the north to the Baltic Sea and the mostly low coast in the south to the Gulf of Stettin (with brackish water). In the interior of the island there are lakes and remnants of wetlands, numerous moraine elevations and dunes. The island is a traditional tourist region. |
