| Description | Common warts (verruca vulgaris) are a frequent benign viral skin disease caused by human papillomaviruses (HPV). In many cases, they are suitable for self-medication. The mainstay of home treatment consists of keratolytic preparations containing salicylic acid and lactic acid, most commonly formulated as collodion solutions. This article summarizes the mechanisms of action of these agents, the principles of the collodion dosage form, recommendations for proper application, the indications and limitations of self-treatment, and an overview of products available on the Czech market. |
