Description The presentation describes possible on-line connection of electrochemical cell and mass spectrometer, used for detection, identification and observation in time of volatile and semivolatile species during electrochemical polarisation of working electrode. As a trial system we studied the process of electrochemical hydrogenation of naphthalene and benzene in 0.5M sulphuric acid on polycristalline Pt electrode. Beside the hydrogenated products the parent hydrocarbons after desorption were detected.
