Description The influence of stress induced by proleg ligature on the total protein level, on the activity of aspartate (AST) and alanine (ALT) aminotransferases and on the activity of lysozyme in haemolymph B. mori larvae was analysed in this study. These effects were observed in silkworm larvae of different sexes and in two different ages. Higher value of total haemolymph protein in females in contrast to males was established. It seems that the proleg ligature does not result in significant increase in haemolymph protein level. The ALT activity was higher than the AST activity in all cases. No differences in activities of both aminotransferases between the control and experimental groups were established. The value of lysozyme decreased rapidly in the first two hours after laboratory intervence. Return to the initial values was observed after five hours. The well-marked decrease and the following increase were observed in all experimental groups.
