Citation
Description The self-sufficient garden reduces the ecological footprint since it does not support the long-distance transport of food or the industrialised growing of vegetables and fruit. Work in the garden helps individuals understand and develop a connection with nature. Thus influences the value system of modern man. At the same time the approach towards gardening can be seen as the result and the expression of societys attitude towards nature. The article deals with the contemporary development of the kitchen gardens using case studies from France.
