Description We have studied the effect of a.c. magnetic field ( f = 50Hz, B = 0-10mT, t = 0-24min) on bacteria Escherichia coli, Leclercia adecarboxylata and Staphylococcus aureus. We have measured the dependence of viability on the time of exposure t and magnetic field induction B. We have compared the growth curves and growth dynamics during magnetic exposure. We have found, that magnetic field affects bacteria. There is an inhibition of viability of about 65-90%; the inhibition depends on the bacterial strain. The most sensitive is the strain E.coli. The inhibition is larger with longer time of exposure and with higher magnetic induction. The effect reaches a saturated value.
