| Description | Exfoliative toxin is the staphylococcal exoprotein responsible for the most of epidermolytic infections, especially in newborns a adults suffering with kidney damage or immune insufficiency. It is produced about five percent human S. aureus isolates. The strains are usually isolated from pacients that suffer with one type of the epdidermolytic disease. So far there were identified four types of exfoliatins ETA, ETB ETC and ETD. In this paper general characteristics of exfoliative toxins are reviewed. The survey of the occurence of PFGE subtypes in some regions of the Czech Republic from 1998 to 2002 are introduced. |
