Description The aim of the study was to assess antidepressant-like effects of the neuroleptic amisulpride in rats with bilateral olfactory bulbectomy (OB). The OB model reflects behavioural, endocrine and immune changes in human depression, which are reversed by antidepressant agents. Amisulpride (7x7mg/kg/day, intraperitoneally) showed a signifficant inhibition of the OB induced locomotor hyperactivity, while it had no effect on locomotion in the control group of rats. The suppressed leukocyte phagocytosis in OB rats was not reversed by amisulpride. The behavioural results suggest amisulpride antidepressant effect.
