Description This paper presents a research project on the problems of defining and understanding men on parental leave. In the media they are presented as "matkové" (men who mother). There may also be fathers who have "simply traded roles" and thereby subordinate the possibilities of the complementary model of family roles (in the phase of the family cycle with small children). The phenomenon of fathers caring for (their young) children will be captured. The goal of the research is to contribute to the expanding categories of fatherhood and parenthood (as well as motherhood), with respect to their dimensions and the everyday experiences of men caring for children, and of women who take turns with their husbands in caring for their children.
