Description The book represents the result of several research probes that were realised by the Department of Social Pedagogy of the Faculty of Education, MU. We used three research models (qualitative and quantitative) that allowed us to present the problems of the children from the socially handicapped background and the distinctive features of their education in the preparatory classes. The first research module based on the qualitative research introduces us into the atmosphere of the preparatory classes. We analysed the interviews of the focus group members (teachers of the preparatory classes in the South Moravian region) an thus we can learn about the school troubles of the pupils and we can then articulate needed competences of teachers and parents. Qualitative research paradigm allows us not only to identify typical educational problems of the pupils in the preparatory classes but also describe them, understand them and explain them. Using the same methodological steps the researchers evaluate the Romany families backgrounds.
