Description Many routine techniques are known in analysis of the ceramics. Classic methods using dissolution and succesive analysis of the solution are time-consuming and destructive. Therefore other methods are employed beside disolution. Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (LA-ICP-AES) and laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) was used for analysis of tiles which are compound of two or three layers. It was found that laser ablation and other laser techniques could be helpful in ceramic technology as a tool for a depth profiling. These methods are without complicated sample preparation and handling procedures; they are faster; more effective and non-destructive. It means that the laser techniques can be useful in archeology and art as a convenient tool not only for ceramic samples.
