| Description | The last version of the checklist from 1997 listed 430 species for the Czech Republic and 435 for Slovakia. The revised list of 2004 listed 462 species from the Czech Republic and 436 from Slovakia. In the present list (2006), the total count is 474 species for the Czech Republic and 438 species for Slovakia. Compared with the fauna of neighbouring countries (Austria 508 species, Germany 500, Hungary 443, Poland 470) [18], the fauna of the Czech Republic and Slovakia is well known, but new records are frequently published (eight times during the past decade). Nevertheless, further tens of species may be expected from both countries. |
