• Description: The aim of the work was the use of species specific PCRs for the identification of bacterial species of genus Bifidobacterium isolated from stool of suckling babies. The other aim was the use of rep-PCR for PCR/fingerprinting of studied strains. Species specific PCRs were carried out with 10 different primer pairs. All isolates were indentified as of genus Bifidobacterium, 3 isolates were identified as species B. bifidum, 3 isolates were identified as species B. animalis, 6 isolates were identified as species B. breve, 2 isolates were identified as species B. adolescentis. Other molecular biology methods will be used for confirmation of the above mentioned results
