Description In the light microscopy changes of structure of proximal and distal tubules of cortex with implication of necrosis were observed. An extensive damage of brush border area was mainly observed in the case of proximal tubules. We did not observe severe histopathological changes in the medulla especially after administration of ABCD. In the electron microscopy in the cortex the enlargement of extracellular spaces of basal labyrinth, especially expressive in the distal tubules were observed. Cell apices protruded in lumina in numerous cytoplasmic buds lacking cell organelles. It was observed in the cytoplasm of cells in both tubules to their basic healing lysosomes, pathological changes of mitochondria and many vacuoles. In the medulla of kidney were in area of basic of proximal tubules dilatation of extracellular spaces and in the cells of tubuli were numerous lysosomes and big pathological changes in mitochondria. Changes of tubules described in the cortex and the medulla were frequently seen after administration of AmB. In good accordance with qualitative findings were results of morphometric observations. Percentage of damaged mitochondria was established – values in both tubules were approximately twice higher in group of animals, to which AmB deoxycholate was applied. Statisticaly significant diference was observed in density of vacuoles and peroxisomes. AmB deoxycholate causes considerably more severe damage to tubules but the morphological damage to renal glomeruli is minimal in both formulas. In tubular cells, AmB deoxycholate causes more than ABCD damage to mitochondria, vacuolation of cytoplasm, and increased values of volume density of peroxisomes.
