Description Breast cancer screening has started in the Czech Republic in September 2002. The current results of the project available in 2005 are summarized in this paper. There are 467 696 women evaluated in this analysis, among whom 2 147 breast cancer cases were detected. Among detected cases, early stages were predominant: 7 % Tis; 71 % T1; 20 % T2; 1 % T3 and 1 % T4. The system of data audit and central statistical data processing meets international requirements and enables valid evaluation of the effect of screening in the population of Czech Republic and comparison of the results at international level.
