| Description | The reliéf from collection of the Moravian Gallery was found at an unspecified date in house No. 72 in Tišnov. In 1928, it was acqiured from a private holding for the then picture gallery of the Moravian Museum. In 1949 it was presented in specialized literature by Albert Kutal, who it incorporated in the context of the Cistercian numery Porta coeli in Předklášteří, dated roughly to around 1240 and the woman figure in the dress of the order identified as Queen Constance of Bohemia. Considering that the tympanum was not discovered in Předklášteří and that there is no way of confirming as to whether it was situated on the precinct of the numery sometime in the past, it is proposed that this surviving work of art is more aptly referred to by the atribute „from Tišnov“ and its dating is extended to a broker range of from the 1230s to the 1250s. An exact identification of the figure on the tympanum is a matter of dispute, however its likeness to a sister or abbess of the Franciscan Order seems highly probable. |
