Description An epidemiologic study of injury rate of men during circa 30 years of their life shows that the greatest share belongs to injuries, which occurred in sports and games (22,3 %). The goal of this work is to find out the characteristics of affected persons that were associated with these injuries, as identified risks could help in their prevention. The source of study data is the information given in questionnaires that were filled in entering the Brno part of the ELSPAC international study. The anamnesis questionnaire comprised their existing health, upbringing, family and working history and found out their social, psychological and economic profile. The rate of the difference in the occurrence of these characteristics among the men who did and did not experience sport injuries is expressed by relative risk, arising from chi2 tests and other comparisons. When compared to controls that did not experience sport injuries, the affected men differed in various characteristics of their health and psychic status, in the numbers and level of involvement in stressogenic events, in some characteristics of their life style and social profile.
