Keywords Dental anthropology - childrens skeletal remains - Pohansko near Břeclav - skeletal age - comparison of methods - Old Slavonic age - specification of methods - dental age.
Description Generally teeth are better preserved than other skeletal materials because there is a higher content of inorganic substances in dental tissues than in skeletal tissues. Therefore age estimation according to teeth is used more often than according to bones. The tooth formation is a long-term process, genetically determined and overreaching a period longer than ten years for some permanent teeth.
