Description Excessive crying is a term for an inconsolable infant crying lasting for a total of more than three hours a day and occurring on more than three days a week lasting more than three weeks. The available evidence suggests that the syndrome of excessive crying might have several causes. One of the most important risk factors for excessive crying in infancy is related to the family context: family functioning, parental stress, parental self-esteem and self-efficacy and to the quality of mother-child interaction.
